The Department of Mathematics and its Application strives to offer highest level PhD and Masters programs in English. The programs are in cooperation with the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics, home of Abel Prize laureate Endre Szemerédi. Expertise of the members of the Rényi Institute include algebraic geometry, combinatorics, functional analysis, group theory, low dimensional topology, number theory, representation theory, theory of algorithms. Both the PhD and the MS programs are accredited in the United States, and fully recognized and highly appreciated throughout the world.

As a community of students, faculty and staff, the Department of Mathematics and its Application is committed to academic freedom, equal access to education and collegial self-governance.
